Treasurer's Report
You will find within this Annual Report part of the Review Engagement Report prepared by KPMG - the Balance sheet and the
Revenue and Expense statement. The full report can be read at the MLPD office.
I am pleased to report that the Provincial Council has worked hard to keep expenses down very well this year and, as a
result, the deficit has been reduced considerably. Appreciation is expressed to the Province of Manitoba for the emergency
funding which enabled MLPD to hire a consultant to examine future development and set some new strategies for ongoing
work. The Province of Manitoba, Department of Family Services and Housing has also committeed to a grant of $50,000 for
each of the next three years. During this time we must strengthen the organization and develop plans for sustainable
funding.
Appreciation is also extended to the Council of Canadians with Disabilities for the Federal Grant which funds much of
the core operations. There have been many generous donations through the direct mail campaign, from the Manitoba Hydro
Selkirk & Interlake Employees' Charitable Donations Committee, and from Grant Mitchell, Manitoba Bar Assocation.
A big thank you to Josie Concepcion for maintaining such accurate financial records, and to our accountants, KPMG for
their work and guidance with our year end statements.
