As Treasurer of the MLPD, the news is positive and provides some optimism for the organization. At this time last year we were in a deficit position. This year, with careful attention to spending, support from the Province of Manitoba, the Government of Canada, the Winnipeg Foundation, Manitoba Hydro (Selkirk), the United Way and the Jewish Foundation, the MLPD is in a surplus position at the end of this fiscal year!

However, we are very dependent at this time on the dollars received from the Province of Manitoba and the Federal Grant through the Council of Canadians with Disabilities. Both of these funding sources are assured only to March 31, 2012.

As an organization we must direct our efforts this next year to our own fund raising, to the enhancement of the Direct Mail campaign and to other project funding in order to carry out our mission and mandate.
